This is the time of year when we get slammed with both personal and business deadlines. It’s easy to start resisting everything that comes your way. You’ve heard that it’s important to say NO, guard your time, and protect your energy.
Catherine Jewell, WCA sponsor and head coach at The Career Passion Coach, suggests that you start saying YES – to nearly everything. Why?
Get into the flow. Whatever you are attracting into your life, whether it’s an old friend, a possible job or a party invitation, it’s there because you attracted it. Why not say YES and check it out? Saying NO ends the possibility. Period.
Get into the habit of saying YES to your heart’s desire. Do you really WANT to be the first to see the latest blockbuster? If so, buy those tickets TODAY! Do you really want a new car? How can you figure out a way to afford one? Do you really want a new career? What are you doing to make that happen?
YES can lead to some really fun times. “We have a friend who is constantly urging us to attend the next rock concert, the next festival, or community event,” said Catherine. “At first, my husband and I resisted because we’re not ‘big fans.’ Then, we started saying YES. The result was a lot of great times with other couples. We’ve expanded our circle of friends, and now we’re the ones thinking up fun things to invite others to attend.”
YES puts you in action. When you say YES to a job lead, you will jump on it and get your resume sent within minutes. It feels great to take positive action, even when all the actions don’t pan out. You can feel progress. You can see yourself succeeding.
YES puts you at the head of the line. When you are the one to raise your hand, you get noticed by management. If you enthusiastically embrace change and the opportunities that are popping up around you, you will set yourself apart. You communicate that you are a decisive, successful, confident, passionate person. Who doesn’t want that?
Catherine would love to help you say YES to your own Career Goals for 2016. If you have a vision, schedule a time with Catherine to talk about it.
