Philanthropy

WCA supports Central Texas college students, communications professionals, and nonprofits through its philanthropic efforts. 

Our philanthropy is made possible through individual and corporate donations, $5 from each member’s annual dues, and fundraising events and activities.

Scholarships: How We Support Central Texas Students

Each year, we award two $5,000 scholarships to Central Texas graduate or undergraduate students studying communications during our annual Banner Brunch:

• • Jo Caldwell Meyer Merit-Based Scholarship
  • Julie Tereshchuk Need-Based Scholarship

Since 1989, WCA has awarded more than $100,000 in scholarships to students at Central Texas colleges and universities. 

In addition, we offer reduced student registration fees and scholarships for Get Smart, our annual conference for communications professionals, and our annual Banner Brunch.

Professional Development: How We Support Communications Professionals 

WCA’s Peer Mentor program offers peer mentorship to create a space for shared growth, insight, and connection for mentors and mentees. Whether you’re seeking mentorship or ready to become a mentor, peer mentorship strengthens professional skills, expands networks, and fosters a dynamic community of communicators supporting each other’s success.
