WCA_BannerBrunch_colorThe winners have been announced, the say-something spring hats are out of storage, and it’s the final countdown to the 43rd annual Banner Brunch!

This Saturday, April 16 from 10:30 a.m. – 1:00 p.m., Women Communicators of Austin (WCA) members, friends, family and members of the public will come together to recognize local communicators, creatives, leaders and mentors who have made an outstanding contribution to the community. Attendees will enjoy a silent auction, inspirational stories and, of course, brunch! It’s also the scholarship recognition ceremony for the winners of the Jo Caldwell Meyer Scholarship Fund, which is awarded to future communicators from Central Texas universities.

If you haven’t purchased your tickets yet, here are five reasons that will make you run to your nearest internet-enabled device and register:

  1. Smart women (and men!) go to Banner Brunch. We aren’t just talking about GPAs here. Meredith Walker, executive director and co-creator of “Amy Poehler’s Smart Girls,” will deliver the keynote address at Banner Brunch 2016. Meredith spends her time spreading the organization’s mission of inspiring young people to be true to themselves over “fitting in.” She leads workshops, service days and volunteer teams around the world, and she’s sure to leave you feeling empowered and ready to take on anything! Admit it—your inner Leslie Knope is excited.
  1. It’s like a class reunion, minus the awkward dancing. Although there are WCA events throughout the year, it’s rare to have a large percentage of the membership under the same roof at the same time. Banner Brunch is one of those rare times! Make new connections, rekindle old ones, and enjoy the company of some of Austin’s best communicators. And if there’s dancing, we promise it won’t be awkward.
  1. The auction is silent, but the items are squeal-worthy. Every year the Banner Brunch silent auction attracts donations from some of Austin’s best businesses. From jewelry to spa or photography packages to gift baskets, you’re sure to find something to put on your “must-have” list!
  1. Enjoy one of our great city’s favorite pastimes… Brunch. Brunch in Austin is no joke, and this year’s Banner Brunch is at one of the newest epicenters of coolness: Hotel Van Zandt in the Rainey Street District. Enjoy a mimosa and some tasty food while hearing the inspirational stories of the Banner Brunch award winners. Why wait until Sunday to have your fun day?
  1. You’ll get a warm, fuzzy feeling. And not just from the mimosas. Proceeds from Banner Brunch tickets and the silent auction benefit the WCA scholarship fund and WCA programs. Your support helps WCA continue these important benefits. You can feel philanthropic AND have a good time!

Banner Brunch isn’t limited to WCA members—anyone can attend! From WCA supporters, friends and family of the honorees, and anyone else interested in being among the Austin communications industry’s finest, all are welcome. We’ll see you on Saturday, April 16!

Time is running out—be sure to buy your Banner Brunch 2016 tickets today!
