Q&A with Marcus Latner, GM of Lone Star Court Hotel

With WCA’s Get Smart Conference taking place tomorrow, those planning to stay overnight have probably already arranged for hotel accommodations but, if not, consider staying at the Lone Star Court Hotel. Opened just before Christmas in 2013, the luxury hotel is located in the Domain and just a stone’s throw away from plenty of high-end retail stores and restaurants. It will also serve as the place for the Get Smart After Party for the second year in a row!

Marcus Latner, General Manager of the Lone Star Court Hotel, recently explained what it is that makes the hotel so special. Here is what he had to say:

Q: What are some of the most popular features of the hotel?

A: The Courtyard at Lone Star Court is the main star.  The landscaping spreads across the entire hotel but in the Courtyard it is large and expansive with Texas native plants that will bloom at different times of the year.  In the Courtyard is our Dipping Spring Pool, a large Pavilion where guests can congregate, a grass yard with seating near a gas fire feature and the most fun is the outdoor wood burning fire pits with seating.  Lone Star Court also boasts a hill country style restaurant & bar, the Water Trough, where live music is played Wednesday to Saturday and great bites are available.  There are also the food trucks on property that give a true Austin vibe.

Q: How does the Lone Star Court Hotel stand out from other hotels in the area?

A: We offer something beyond a room in a box within a box.  We offer an outdoor experience with luxury.  Guests can truly relax and enjoy their stay within the hotel and get a great Texas experience.  We have great rocking chairs outside the room and an expansive minibar, so guests can sit out, enjoy, and take in the scenery or get some work done at the same time.

Q: Why should guests stay there?

A: We offer all the comforts of a hotel from Egyptian cotton sheets and high-end amenities to great beds but we also offer the necessities at no charge with a complimentary breakfast,  free Wi-Fi, a 24-hour fitness room, relaxing pool, and a fun courtyard.  Guests can come for business and have fun at the same time.  It is great for families and gatherings where everyone can meet and greet freely.

Q: What kind of experience are you hoping guests take away with them after staying at the hotel?

A: We hope guests take away a full experience from the hotel that will enhance a person’s stay within Austin.  We don’t want all the memories of a stay to be about what happened outside the hotel but instead we want to be a big part of those memories.

Q: Where are you looking to take the establishment in future?

A: We are currently developing our second court hotel by Valencia Group in Bryan-College Station, across from Texas A&M University.
