WCA’s annual Get Smart Conference is designed to inspire, motivate you and make you better at what you do every day. This year’s theme is “Fail Forward: How to Recover, Rebuild and Come Back Stronger”. Through four interactive breakout sessions and a keynote panel with some of
Austin’s top business owners, we will explore how to break through the fear of failure that keeps us from innovating.

If that’s not enough to pique your interest, here are just a handful of reasons we think Get Smart 2013 is a must-attend event for any communications professional.

  1. Reach new levels of success – personally and professionally. Failure is something that happens to all of us, but it should never be something that holds us back. This year’s conference will give powerful insights on how to come back stronger when you do fail and leveraging networks and lessons learned to build a safety net against failure.
  2. Not  one – but MULTIPLE – keynote speakers. This year’s keynote luncheon is a  panel of well-known Austin business leaders, Ken Schiller of K&N Management (Rudy’s BBQ,  Mighty Fine Burgers), Olivia O’Neal of  Sugar Mama’s Bakeshop, and John Garrett of  Community Impact Newspaper, who will speak on building a successful business in one of the most rapidly changing, fastest-growing areas in the U.S.
  3. Network.  Get Smart is attended by professionals from all backgrounds, experience levels and industries. The half-day conference is designed for you to interact with and get to know fellow attendees in each session, so you can not only leave the conference smarter, but with new friends and valuable contacts.
  4. Same format & lowered registration costs as last year. We received overwhelmingly positive feedback on last year’s longer session times and slashed registration costs, so we’re bringing them back for Get Smart 2013.
  5. Get to Know Women Communicators of Austin.  Women Communicators of Austin has a new name and a rapidly growing membership base. We’re proud to be a welcoming, collaborative environment where communications pros from all disciplines and experience levels can share ideas and learn something new. Come check it out firsthand at Get Smart.

Whether you come as a first-time attendee or a seasoned (and very Smart) participant, I hope you’ll join me on September 13 for Get Smart 2013 at the UT Commons Learning Center. Early Bird rates are $65 for members, $75 for non-members and $45 for students and are valid through Wednesday, August 13.
