The Programs committee coordinates WCA’s educational programming, including luncheons, evening programs, and Freelance Austin coffee meetups. Members and guests learn about the latest communication trends from industry leaders and ask questions about new techniques and technologies in the field.
Be a part of the WCA’s annual Banner Brunch, a spring-time event that honors the top communicators in central Texas and awards scholarships to outstanding communications students at area colleges and universities. Opportunities include: Silent Auction, Sponsorship, Awards, Publicity, Logistics, Publications, and Registration.
Career Services
Help grow and develop WCA’s professional resources with the the Career Services team. Career Services is the backbone of WCA and oversees WCA’s Peer Mentor Program, Resume Review, and Careers Over Coffee. Volunteers are welcome to help connect with colleges and universities, host career events, serve as mentors and fulfill other great roles.
Membership
Interested in recruitment, networking and building strong relationships with WCA membership? Join our membership committee and help develop and execute initiatives to grow, retain, and engage WCA membership. The Membership Committee works to gather feedback from WCA members, and improve programming.
Interested in conference planning, event logistics, and more? Volunteer with the Professional Development Committee at Get Smart – a half-day professional development conference designed to provide Austin communications professionals with innovative tools and resources to remain at the cutting-edge of their professions.
Engagement
Do you love meeting new people? Join the Engagement Committee to help with volunteer recruitment and management as well as planning our evening Happy Hours and the annual Holiday Party.
The WCA Philanthropy Team serves two crucial roles: (1) Producing an ongoing educational webinar series that helps nonprofits and mission-driven organizations navigate professional communications challenges.. (2) Creating a positive impact through grants, scholarships, partnerships and leadership in Central Texas while providing WCA members new opportunities for enrichment and professional growth.
Communications
The Communications Team is a hands-on group of volunteers who keep all the WCA wheels turning! This committee is a great opportunity for anyone interested in writing blogs, posting social media, designing graphics, and being part of a team that gets the word out about WCA!
