Christina Trevino has achieved great success over the course of her career. She is the author of “Zoo in YOU,” a Children’s Book Series which serves as a creative platform for kids to develop, explore and identify their emotions. It focuses on emotion leadership and development for children and tells the story of a heroine named Sami who, through interaction with a string of zoo animals, learns to be comfortable with her feelings and emotions. In addition to her popular book series, Trevino is a speaker, trainer and coach, as well as the VP of Professional Development for Women Communicators of Austin Board of Directors.
And if all that weren’t enough of a hint to clue you in to how amazing she is, maybe her most recent honor will: She has been chosen as the WCA Member Spotlight for April!
Although the Seattle native – who settled in Austin 15 years ago after spending several years in Colorado – believes “you have to have a strong connection to (your) purpose” in order to be successful, she credits those she works with for helping her forge forward and establish herself as a mover and shaker around town.
“I’ve had the most amazing, generous (and) appreciative clients, so not only are they really open but they are the biggest promoters of what I do,” Trevino said.
Trevino is the founder of Emotion Leadership Enterprises (ELE). Together, with her team of skilled advisors – a therapist, yoga specialist and leadership specialist – she facilitates “Leadership for the Human Spirit” (L4HS) a series of corporate and personal leadership and training workshops.
“They help you with direction,” she said. “They help you set goals.”
According to Trevino, it was interactions with Corporate America executives coupled with her years of experience as a group-living counselor that lead to the development of ELE.
“You’re teaching team building and communication and, again, there wasn’t that foundation, that platform for very basic emotions, “she said.
Trevino set out to change that with ELE.
She works to establish a common language though the art of storytelling, then tailors her coaching approach to help clients better understand specific problems of both a professional and personal nature, which may be disrupting the flow of their everyday lives.
Client reactions seem to emulate Trevino’s thoughts about the impression left behind by the coaching techniques and workshops available.
“Not only do I think you find happiness, but it brings you peace and fulfillment,” Trevino said.
