From Cory Leahy, Associate Director of Digital Strategy and Senior Editor at The University of Texas at Austin:
Be sure to keep learning. Once you’re out of school, the structure for formal learning can evaporate. Classes, lectures, reading assignments, and deep discussions are replaced with to-do lists, work deadlines, and meetings meetings meetings. Between your work life and your family life, you may find time sliding by quickly with little to differentiate the weeks. Be deliberate about pressing “pause” sometimes to seek out new experiences: practice a language, visit a museum, try a new technology, or learn an artisan skill. Create some external accountability by creating a blog to chronicle or illustrate your newfound knowledge. These breaks in the rushing stream of work and family life are personally enriching and will likely bring light to your many other endeavors.
