Trust Yourself
By Sheri Parr
Einstein said, “ the intuitive mind is a sacred gift and the rational mind is a faithful servant. We have created a society that honors the servant and has forgotten the gift.”
The intuitive mind provides direct knowledge of our personal truths and is a useful companion for navigating our journey. Not trusting our intuition leads to fragmented thinking that results in poor judgment and faulty decision-making. If we are to lead ourselves successfully through the trials we face as women we need to trust our wholesomeness.
The story of the tragic Greek heroine, Medea, is a powerful reminder for me to be ruthlessly compassionate toward my own dualistic nature as I embrace wholeness. Medea was a sorceress from the isle of Colchis who fell in love with and sailed to Crete with Jason of the Argonauts. She is betrayed by Jason and naturally experienced feelings of outrage toward her husband. However, she resorts to violence claiming – that was all that was left to her because of the values of the society she lived in. The tendency to dichotomize is stubbornly pervasive in human thought. Every problem properly perceived becomes an opportunity. In a modern rendition of Medea, she reclaims political insight and develops emotional intelligence to take her proper role in society.
Be your own hero. Trust your perceptions, insights and feelings and use them to shape a better future.
