Connect With Local American Marketing Association Members

Need an excuse to get out of the house for a few hours? Or, looking for a way to meet other communications professionals? Grab your business cards and join the Association for Women in Communications Austin Chapter for the first Connect over Cocktails event of 2012!

We’re co-hosting this FREE event with the American Marketing Association (AMA) Austin Chapter Thursday, Feb. 9 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Casa Chapala, 3010 W. Anderson Lane, Austin, TX 78757.

Connect over Cocktails is AWC Austin’s signature networking event. Events are open to members and non-members, yet remain small enough to allow attendees to make quality connections. For those of you who are not yet AWC members, this is a great way to meet some of the members and decide if AWC is a good fit for you. Plus, there is no fee to attend Connect over Cocktails.

We’re excited to announce some changes to Connect over Cocktails for 2012. If you’ve been a long-time AWC member and have attended our happy hours in the past, then you may recall we were using the name Careers over Cocktails. While this is most definitely a great forum for making new business contacts and learning about career opportunities, we also want to encourage all AWC members to attend, whether job seeking or not.

We are also trying out a new schedule for Connect over Cocktails so members who are involved in other organizations can attend more functions. Beginning in February, Connect over Cocktails will be held every other month instead of every month, and starting in April, events will be held the second Tuesday of every other month at various locations in central Austin.

We have also decided to reach out to other professional organizations in Austin to co-host events. Already, the Young Women’s Alliance (YWA) has contacted us and we are considering other groups such as Texas Women in Business (TWIB), Public Relations Society of America (PRSA) Austin Chapter and International Association of Business Communicators (IABC) Austin Chapter. Please let us know if there’s an organization you would like us to connect with, as we want you to get the most out of these events.
