Support AWC Austin and Freelance Austin’s Lights of Love 5K Team

Save Time this Holiday Season! As the year comes to a close, the line-up of social, professional, and familial events tugging at our time increases exponentially. Add to that, all the ways to support charitable causes during the holidays, and you start cooking up a recipe for stress. Well, here’s a solution for you that covers all the bases! Support the AWC Austin and Freelance Austin’s Ronald McDonald House Charities Lights of Love 5K team.

Why the Lights of Love 5K?
Supporting the LOL5K gives AWC Austin and Freelance Austin members a chance to thank the Ronald McDonald House Charities (RMHC) for letting us use their community room every month for our meetings. Supporting the LOL5K also gives us a chance to help Central Texas Families during their most trying times, dealing with seriously ill children and pre-mature babies.

For those of you who may not be aware of RMHC, the organization runs the Ronald McDonald House, a 30-room facility near Dell Children’s Hospital, which allows families who live at least 25 miles away from the hospital a home-away-from-home close to where their child is being treated. RMHC also runs a Family Room in both the Dell Children’s Hospital and St. David’s North Austin Medical Center. These rooms give in-town families a warm, relaxing place to regroup while visiting children in NICU.To learn more about the families you’re supporting through Ronald McDonald House Charities, please check out their website.

Consider Signing Up or Donating to the 2011 Lights of Love 5K!
Austin’s RMHC charges families $10 a night to stay at the Ronald McDonald House, by donating $10 you can help a family spend one night closer to their child. Go to the AWC’s team page and click the “Give Now” button to make a donation as part of the AWC/FA team or join our Lights of Love 5K team!

If you’d like to walk with us, you can sign up to become part of the AWC Austin and Freelance Austin team for the walk on the evening of Friday, December 2. Go to the AWC’s team page and click the “Join our team” button to register to run/walk/mosey with us. The cost is $25 to register, $20 of which goes is a donation to AWC/FA’s fundraising goal. All participants are eligible for fun incentive and contests, so it’s worth it for you to sign up today!
