This year’s Get Smart conference committee is grateful for Genius-level sponsor (the highest level sponsorship available), KVUE-TV, the ABC affiliate in Austin, Texas. KVUE’s president and general manager, Patti Card Smith, will be introducing the opening keynote speaker, Matthew Dowd, during the conference on Oct. 21.

Under Patti’s leadership, KVUE has become an authority in professional television broadcasting. Known for exceptionally adept reporting and relevant content, KVUE has been honored with a variety of national and regional awards including the Edward R. Murrow foundation’s most prestigious award, the National Award for “Overall Excellence” which was presented to the station in 2007, and Patti herself was honored with AWC Austin’s Outstanding Austin Communicator Award in 2010.

Patti graduated from the University of Texas at Austin with a Bachelor of Science degree in Communications. Her career spans over 35 years in the television industry and encompasses positions in the sales, production, promotions and news departments. Patti has won several personal awards for her service in television broadcasting including the Texas Association of Broadcasting’s “Broadcaster of the Year,” in recognition of her longstanding commitment to excellence in the industry amongst the over 1300 radio and television stations within the state.
