How do you go from working for the ACLU to working for George W Bush, and then leaving the administration?  Now, that’s a career transition!  On October 21, Matthew Dowd will speak about his career and personal journey when he is the opening keynote speaker at AWC Austin’s Get Smart conference.

Dowd, who is now a founding partner of ViaNovo, a management and communications consultancy and an ABC News correspondent, will headline “Destination Get Smart: Your Journey Begins Here!”

In an environment where the unemployment rate is almost 10% and the average professional will change jobs over five times in a lifetime, navigating one’s journey can be tricky at best.  Against a backdrop of economic uncertainty, unprecedented employment trends, and a rapidly changing communications industry, Get Smart 2010 presents published authors and leaders across all sectors to inspire, educate, and offer tactical approaches to help you move forward with your personal and professional journey.

This year Get Smart will feature 6 different speakers who each have words of wisdom to share with us about their own personal and professional paths.  You will leave the conference inspired by Dowd’s journey as he left the Oval Office, and you will laugh with closing keynote speaker, blogger and author, Stephanie Klein, as she explains that “everything good starts with a break-up.” In between you can learn from Marny Lifshen, Melissa Schenker, Dan Castro, and Audrey Selden, the presenters for four fabulous breakout sessions.

At the last Get Smart, Dr. Betty Sue Flowers wowed us as she helped us to build a bridge; Join us for this Get Smart as we travel over the bridge and journey beyond to our next phase—whatever phase lay ahead for your personal journey.

Registration starts today, August 18. Register here.
