We learned from our panel of charity executives how to get the edge on your competition. On our panel were:
Linda Medina – Greater Austin Hispanic Chamber of Commerce Education Foundation
Paige DeLeon – Capitol Area Foodbank
Callie Thompson – Project Transitions
We learned that whether you’re volunteering for a professional organization or a food bank, your good feelings and positive energy can turn into jobs. And, our panel told us just how to do that.
As a holiday give back opportunity, event attendees were asked to bring items for SafePlace, the shelter for abused women, men and their children. Freelance Austin committee members made sure to deliver the items to support families that frequently leave their abusive homes with nothing but the clothes on their backs. Everyone wants to give the children toys for the holidays, but these families also have basic needs, like diapers, underwear and pillows.
The meeting was held at:
Mangia Pizza, 8012 Mesa Drive
Austin, TX 78731
