After moving from Washington, DC, back to Austin, she worked on environmental grants for parks, air quality, and community development in Travis County’s Transportation & Natural Resources Department. In her next role, Nicole managed a peer mentoring program for middle school girls called clubGEN. While at the Girls Empowerment Network, Nicole also served in program management and fundraising roles. She then became a freelance writer and marketer on a website for parents of preschoolers as a City Guide, as well as a number of other positions, including content manager for a local website where she covered the Austin City Limits Music Festival for seven years.
