MARKETING & COMMUNICATIONS SPECIALIST

Position Summary:
WAYA is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to providing recreational opportunities for the youth of Austin. WAYA serves over 10,000 youth annually through over 30 sports programs, camps and a preschool.
The Marketing and Communications Specialist maintains and grows an integrated, organization-wide strategic marketing and communications plan. They work to broaden awareness and solidify WAYA’s position as a thriving youth community center through effective and consistent communication with participants and staff.
The Marketing and Communications Specialist will assist the Athletic, Preschool, and Development teams in the development and implementation of communications strategies, plans and deliverables for internal and external audiences.

Position Duties:
• Manage WAYA email communications including writing weekly programming newsletters & weekly staff newsletters
• Oversee the development and execution of online content including managing the WAYA website and social media channels
• Analyze social media and newsletter analytics and identify trends to build community online
• Create all graphics and branding to be used for digital and traditional marketing platforms (banners, yard signs, postcards, brochures, posters)
• Maintain a brand voice and brand integrity across all platforms
• Collaborate with Directors to create and maintain a yearly communications / social media calendar
• Assist Directors in creating online registrations for their programs
• Assist Executive Director in developing communications in response to incidents in a timely and appropriate manner
• Occasionally attend WAYA events, including games, tournaments, member events, etc. to take pictures, live-stream, and create other types of content
• Coordinate with WAYA photographer and WAYA staff to get pictures when not in attendance
• Research new marketing outlets for WAYA
• Research new outreach opportunities for WAYA

Experience and Qualifications:
Required:
• Three + years of progressively responsible and successful experience in communications, marketing, visual communications or related field
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Strong editing abilities and an eye for design
• Experience managing website content, and using a drag and drop website builder
• Experience developing social media campaigns including posting and running ads
• Experience with graphic design tools such as Canva
• Basic knowledge of Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop
• Strong storytelling skills
• Strong project management, multitasking, and decision-making skills
• Fast learner with a desire to grow

Preferred:
• Degree of certification in Communications, Marketing, Visual Communications, Public Relations or a related field
• Experience in SEO and Google Analytics
• Experience creating video and audio content
• Photography skills
• Experience writing and submitting press releases

Report Directly to Executive Director
Salary Job Type: Full Time 40 hours a week, may include occasional evenings and weekends
Pay range: $45K-$55K annual salary + benefits
