Gina Helfrich, Ph.D.
Communications Director and Program Manager for Diversity & Inclusion NumFOCUS
Gina has over 10 years of professional communications experience spanning nonprofits, technology, higher education, and entrepreneurship. She is an expert in women’s leadership and gender equity with over 12 years of experience working to advance diversity and inclusion. Gina holds a Ph.D. in Philosophy and Women’s Studies from Emory University and is the former Director of the Harvard College Women’s Center. Her strengths are in community engagement, content strategy, inbound marketing, digital marketing, donor relations, project management, strategic planning, and operations. She is a frequent public speaker and was an invited panelist at the 2016 Texas Conference for Women.
Currently, Gina is Communications Director and Program Manager for Diversity & Inclusion at NumFOCUS, a nonprofit that promotes better science through open code. She also works as an independent consultant helping clients to better motivate and engage their stakeholders in support of strategic goals.
