Lindsay SloanLindsay Sloan is a senior at the University of Texas at Austin (UT). She is from Cypress, Texas, a suburb in the Houston area. She is majoring in corporate communication studies with a minor in English, and plans to complete a business certificate from the McCombs School of Business. She is the president of Women Communicators of Austin (WCA) student chapter and was the secretary last year. She is also a member of the WCA Sponsorship Committee working with WCA VP of Development Margaret Barry.

Currently, Lindsay is interning for Leverage PR where she writes blog entries, drafts pitches and press releases, pulls media lists, researches clients and reporters, and performs call downs. She also works as a communications associate for Presbyterian Children’s Homes and Services where she writes blog entries and maintains their social media accounts. Previously, she did campus and community engagement for Texas Performing Arts and promoted special events for the Blanton Museum of Art.

When Lindsay is not working or focusing on her studies, she is participating in a competitive a cappella group, One Note Stand (ONS). ONS was founded at UT in November 2009 with a mission to serve the Austin community through music. She was the vice president last year and will be the president in 2016.

After graduation Lindsay hopes to work as an account executive for a major public relations firm and learn more about the industry. Her long-term career goal is to do communications or public or media relations for a non-profit specializing in improving the public education system.
